This is it. Tomorrow is the big day. Finally Windows 7 will be released to the public. I’ve got only one thing to say to all of you who may still be on the fence..this version of Windows is ROCKIN! I’ve been using it since March and I absolutely love it. Even during Beta testing it has been extremely stable and it uses less resources (usually) than any version of Windows yet.
If you are considering upgrading, I say go for it. About the only reason not to is if you are running older legacy devices (printers, scanners, etc) or similar devices that don’t have updated drivers (aka Vista or better) and you absolutely need the device. Even then, I would say just go out and buy a newer version of the device and still upgrade…yes it is that good.
If you are upgrading from Vista, the change over is relatively simple, just stick in the Windows 7 disk and follow the upgrade instructions (after running a full backup of course). If you are running Windows XP or older you will need to do a full install of Windows 7 (no direct upgrade options exist), and then install your applications and transfer your old files. This can be time consuming and sometimes very scary.
Finally, don’t underestimate the power of help. Take advantage of local support companies to do the upgrade for you. If you live in SE New Mexico, give me or my office at CDR Services (www.cdrservices.com) a call 575-391-7768 and we’ll handle it for you. Using an experienced technician takes all the worry and scare out of it.
